New Publication: 4D Soot Measurement in Unsteady Flames

To comprehensively characterize soot formation in transient flames, it is necessary to fully capture the three-dimensional structure and its temporal evolution. Building on earlier work, the LTT succeeded—for the first time worldwide—in performing 4D measurements of flame temperature, soot concentration, and primary particle size. To achieve this, two-color pyrometry and laser-induced incandescence were combined with measurement rates in the kHz range. The publication in Applied Optics can be found at
