Dr.-Ing. Florian Bauer

In order to improve the basic understanding of combustion processes and to optimize them with regard to combustion efficiency and pollutant emissions, it is necessary to combine optical measurement methods for flame investigation with simulation tools and conventional emission measurement technology. The working group is divided into the areas of combustion research, applied combustion technology and development of combustion measurement technology.

The main field of work group “Combustion Technology and Reactive Flows” comprises the development and application of laser measurement techniques for the investigation of complex processes during mixture formation and combustion. The development of measurement techniques focuses on imaging methods for temperature and concentration determination. In addition to their application in basic investigations, these measurement techniques are also used to optimize technical combustion systems and engine combustion processes.
